🍂 “‘Loving someone is like moving into a house,’ Sonja used to say. ‘At first you fall in love with all the new things, amazed every morning that all this belongs to you, as if fearing that someone would suddenly come rushing in through the door to explain that a terrible mistake had been made, you weren’t actually supposed to live in a wonderful place like this. Then over the years the walls become weathered, the wood splinters here and there, and you start to love that house not so much because of all its perfection, but rather for its imperfections. You get to know all the nooks and crannies. How to avoid getting the key caught in the lock when it’s cold outside. Which of the floorboards flex slightly when one steps on them or exactly how to open the wardrobe doors without them creaking. These are the little secrets that make it your home.’”

🍂 After seeing this book on almost every second account on bookstagram, without any second thought I ordered it but I didn’t knew simply how to read it to be precise, every time I got a sort of weird vibe from this book. When I saw Chhavi was hosting a buddy read for this book I was simply happy because now apart from reading, I was going to discuss my opinion with someone.

🍂 I started reading it, it was going great and slowly I was getting in the book I read about ove a man of principles and decency, I felt his emotions, story got deeper chapter by chapter, storyline was bittersweet, While I was reading this story, it didn’t allowed me either to laugh or to cry sometime I even got confused with my feelings, emotions and certain opinions. After reading the entire book I felt devastated and confused with my feelings. That’s why I will read again, to simply untangle my confused opinions towards it.

🍂 QOTD : What are your opinion towards this story?

🍂 “Judgment” this one word sometimes not only changes an individual but also transforms him to be more strong, mature, honest, grateful and unapologetic towards his life. This factor of judgment impacts us often negatively rather than positivity in life sometimes and in my opinion that’s the point where an individual should do one thing as Winston Churchill once said : “never give in, never give in, never, never, never, never - in nothing, great or small, large or petty - never give except to convictions of honour and good sense.

🍂 As we all know the Hindi film industry popularly known as Bollywood has influenced daily life and culture in India for decades now, movies are mainstay and almost an other “society” or a world in itself. Today whether it’s about an actor or an actress, director or a movie producer there’s one name, that name which is well known in every Indian household and it’s indeed a synonym to success, panache, quick wit and outspokenness and that is Karan Johar. But the thing is as human irrespective of our body, gender, career, social reputation or our cultural preferences/ values we face certain common human emotions in life such as happiness, anger, kindness, friendship, jealousy, inspiration, gratitude and so on! But the aspect which makes Karan different is his his honest and unapologetic approach towards his personal and professional life. From his childhood to adulthood how he transformed his life. From being a shy, reserved and introverted guy south Bombay guy to an outspoken and frank successful personalities in India. Karan shares the story of his childhood from school to college, from learning to exploring. His relationship with SRK and end of a beautiful 25 year old friendship with an another successful personality in Bollywood to his rift with Kareena Kapoor. This book has it all.

🍂His journey as a film maker from DDLJ to getting the inspiration from the story of Archie, Betty and Veronica for KKHH. From KKKH to ADHM he explains it all fearlessly in a straightforward manner and finally COMING OUT! indirectly but PROUDLY.

🍂 I cannot read on a Kindle. I love the physical experience of holding a book, cracking it open, and the process of making the right half weigh less than the left half. I only read hardcover books because I like the resistance and the presence on a bookshelf.

🍂 Eliot, when asked to define “a Penguin classic”, says: For me, a 'classic' is a book that combines literary quality, historical significance and an enduring reputation, and — above all — it is a book that still feels alive. And now I can totally understand this feeling and these emotions and the most important : the pride of having these beauties in my existence... In my opinion each penguin classics says something different, conveying certain situations and aspects reports to life and it’s advantages and sometimes simply disadvantages. And As I’m exploring more by experiencing certain factors in life now I one particular thing that the cosiest place for me is the company of books!

🍂 How often do you stop and admire the aesthetics of a book or any sort of photographs on bookstagram?
.
.
🍂 They say As humans, we are programmed to be attracted to what we find beautiful. Something shiny and something pretty will always catch your eye and sustain your interest. It’s just our way, we are drawn to things that satisfy our senses. The way we perceive beauty is a concept that designers spend their entire lives understanding. Nail down that understanding and a designer will always have people clamouring for more.
.
.
🍂 But sometimes what I think is it’s your imperfections which makes you unique and wonderful in your own way! And sometimes it’s because If we convince ourselves something we've done is perfect, we remove our ability to improve it. Iteration, adaptation, learning…these are enabled by imperfection.
Imperfections are beautiful. Imperfections give rise to engaging characters with realistic flaws.

🍂 She had both her mother’s arrogance and her maternal grandmother’s self indulgence. She was wild, reckless and the element which sometimes matters the most for a women and that is “Boldness”, yes she was bold, daring and fearless. She was Sula, determined and facing the extreme hatred and ill suited by the black community in the area of “Bottom” which is the hilly area above the valley town of medallion, Ohio ( Fictional ) and for the most part black inhabitants lived in the bottom and the white landowners lived in the valley. The story deals with three major themes, first: MOTHERHOOD because it’s indeed one of the hardest and greatest thing in life. Second: DOUBLENESS because each of us holds a second identity within ourselves and it doesn’t matter who you are, where are you from or simply where you’ll end up. And lastly third : SYMBOLISM because it’s the language of mysteries which exists to adorn and enrich and is inherent in human nature. And this is the story of friendship and love.

🍂 “SULA” also explores the life of Nel wright ( main protagonist) Sula’s best friend and her complete opposite. If Sula was Daring, she was obedient and if Sula was impulsive, she was cautious. As young girls both shared each other’s secrets and dream in the poor black mid west of their childhood. Then Sula ran away to live her her dreams and Nel got married. Ten years later Sula returns and one trusts her including Nel, but why? What forces her to distrust Sula? To find the answers of these questions what you need to do is to go and grab your copy.

🍂 In my opinion, Morrison didn’t distinguished between the blacks and the white communities but simply made me realise what really means to be born in the black community and to face the oppression without any interruption and sometimes how external forces changes a kind of sisterhood relationship between two mature yet immature individuals.

🍂 For me it was a 4.5/⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read and to briefly describe this book I simply own three words: haunting, complex and achingly beautiful.

🍂 Books are everywhere. Libraries big and small and bookstores are splattered all over college campuses and larger cities. They are all filled with one of the most important things of all time—books. In my opinion sometimes these books simply introduces us to the concept of “critical thinking” because Critical thinking is essential for life. It allows people to work through problems and determine what's true. Reading literature provides the perfect opportunity for building critical thinking skills.
.

🍂 with these kind of thoughts now I can say that my reading and understanding journey is getting back on track! Oh.. sorry I didn’t realise.... hello fellow bookish friend/ stranger/ there! Currently I’m reading these two books :
1. SULA ( TONI MORRISON )
Basically dealing with the notion of motherhood, double ness and symbolism. It’s my first read on African American literature.

2. MY GITA ( DEVDUTT PATTANAIK)
Based on Bhagavadgita or the Gita as it popularly known is part of the epic Mahabharata.

🍂RATINGS : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/ 5

🍂 The thoroughly reactionary varna and caste system has hounded Indian society for thousands of years. India is the only country in the world where such a system came into being and still exists. Sometimes this aspect of “social identity” divides people directly or indirectly, intentionally or unintentionally or what basically known as “Divide and rule” but this simply is not the only reason of the humiliation, suffering, problems faced by the community of “Untouchables” or “Dalits” such is a story of Bakha a proud, humble oppressed and a loyal individual who worked earnestly and quickly. He was loyal to his occupation but the situation were not in his favour, a sweeper and toilet cleaner by profession he was subject to humiliation and hardship at every moment why? Because the other think that their community is dirt because they clean their dirt.

🍂 The story is set in the pre independence time and the most enchanting factor about this story was it’s timeline, how powerfully yet silently the author recreate a single day in the life of an untouchable in colonial India. The language approach in the story was quite appealing in a powerful manner yet explosive and appealing. The characters in the story simply and without any doubt were the “heart” deserving love, hate, anger, pain, grief and other certain crucial human emotions.

🍂 But the arrival of Mohandas Karamchand Das Gandhi popularly known as Mahatma Gandhi in town one day usher in an idea that could change bakha’s life forever.

🍂 The main factor I liked the most about the story was it still speaks to the India of today presenting the Dalit suffering. I would strongly recommend this powerful and eye opener story to everyone out there because this story directly or indirectly makes you realise that sometimes it’s about a random act of kindness that you show to someone around you.

Good books are friendly things to own.
If you are busy they will wait.
They will not call you on the phone
Or wake you if the hour is late.
They stand together row by row,
Upon the low shelf or the high.
But if you’re lonesome this you know:
You have a friend or two nearby.

The fellowship of books is real.
They’re never noisy when you’re still.
They won’t disturb you at your meal.
They’ll comfort you when you are ill.
The lonesome hours they’ll always share.
When slighted they will not complain.
And though for them you’ve ceased to care
Your constant friends they’ll still remain.

Good books your faults will never see
Or tell about them round the town.
If you would have their company
You merely have to take them down.
They’ll help you pass the time away,
They’ll counsel give if that you need.
He has true friends for night and day
Who has a few good books to read.

🍂 For a reader in my opinion, sometimes it’s all about books, novels, stories, fiction, non fiction audiobook, paperbacks, hardcovers and so on! Sometimes it’s just about gaining access to deeply imagined lives other than our own. Or to simply understand society’s and people’s opinions and several understandings sometimes it’s about evolution,
Sometimes it’s about knowledge, information or personal development.
Or sometimes it’s about the realms of psychology or philosophy.
.
.
.
🍂 I guess it’s about us, the only difference that is between is of “preferences” sometimes there are preferences which makes us categories books into different categories.
.
.
🍂QOTD : How did you get into reading? What are some of your major “reading preferences”?

Good Books By Edgar Guest . 🍂 For a reader in my opinion, sometimes it’s all about books, novels, stories, fiction, non fiction audiobook, paperbacks, hardcovers and so on! Sometimes it’s just about gaining access to deeply imagined lives other than our own. Or to simply understand society’s and people’s opinions and several understandings sometimes it’s about evolution, Sometimes it’s about knowledge, information or personal development. Or sometimes it’s about the realms of psychology or philosophy. . . . 🍂 I guess it’s about us, the only difference that is between is of “preferences” sometimes there are preferences which makes us categories books into different categories. . . 🍂QOTD : How did you get into reading? What are some of your major “reading preferences”? . . . 🍂 “Value the people who sacrifice something for you because maybe that something was their everything” and as they say “self sacrifice is the noblest trait in human character.” These were my precise thoughts while reading this book and the perspective that how someone can be an egotistical that he just wants that other human ( who sacrificed his own happiness for him, who remained loyal to him up to his death ) to vanish, to just disappear in the air like that individual never existed?

🍂 Afghanistan, 1975 : twelve year old Amir is desperate to win the local kite fighting tournament and his loyal friend Hassan promises to help him. But neither of the boys foresee what will happen to Hassan that afternoon?, an event that is to shatter their lives! After the Russians invade and the family is forced to flee to America Aamir realises that one day he must return to Afghanistan under Taliban control to find one thing that his new world cannot grant him : REDEMPTION

🍂 Basically this story deals with the emotions of childhood friendship, loyalty, love, father - son relationships, sacrifice, betrayal, guilt, regret and redemption. The storyline is mostly based in Afghanistan and in the United States of American. Hosseini has described each character and each situation in the plot with utmost perfection. Writing style of the plot is indeed appealing in an unique perspective. This is one of those hugely original stories where you will witness each character of every possible human emotion.

🍂 Now....To be honest, the character whom I hated the most was Aamir. He was a coward and perplexed individual. ( He accepts) and even the writer tried his best to made us connect with him but for me he was just an egotistical person who was just trying to cover up his guilt and regret. And I’m even aware of the fact that he was just a child at that time when Hassan faced that devastating situation but still what he could have done was to tell his father about that incident or just simply adopt some sympathetic yet positive attitude towards Hassan but he simply didn’t!

🍂 Loneliness is accretive, extending and perpetuating. Once it becomes impacted, it is by no means easy to dislodge.

🍂 Sometimes each of us faces this aspect of “loneliness” in our life which simply makes us questioning everything we have in our life but it’s also about facing our situations, those situations we simply do not want in our lives and simply with courage and kindness and a little bit of psychological/emotional help motivates and most importantly, makes us face those situations confidently, And how with these aspects we can own a more better version of ourselves.

🍂 Eleanor Oliphant,30, lives in Glasgow, novel’s narrator and protagonist who faces difficulties in comprehending social dynamics and is lonely and socially isolated but she is happy nothing is missing from her life. Except sometimes everything.

🍂 In my opinion, overall the author has done an incredible amount of justice towards the character of Eleanor and how simply with courage, kindness and with a positive attitude of willingness she encounters her real feelings, emotions, anxiety and certain other factors that are principal in our journey towards life.

🍂 For me it was a happy but a devastating read. When I started reading this story it also made me a little bit impatient and I felt it was a drag but as slowly I turned the pages my thoughts were no longer the same they were!
