I remember a younger me Far too young to know my own skin, With belly rolls and cellulite I would scrutinize in the mirror Searching for ways to look better. Not did I realise, What I was looking for Was a way to be me, A way to feel good about myself. Tiny eyed, fatso, tuntun mausi, They gave me ugly nicknames. And I.... would fake a smile Like I didn't care what they called me. But it would hurt me to the core That my pillow seemed to be drenched in rain, Every morning I woke with puffed eyes. Life was tough for me Both inside and out, "You are getting fatter," my mother would say. "Just look at her," my neighbours would gawp. I became increasingly self conscious, Dependent on how others perceived me. But with time and mistakes, I grew better with time Discarding negativity, I found self love. Now I'm manifesting And creating the woman I want to be, Setting goals, pushing myself harder For the Happy future I see for me. Not many realise it The closest relationship you'll ever have Is with your body and yourself. Beauty is self defined and self creating, Dismantle the barriers Of skin, color, and size to fit in.
