I love men!!! I mean, I love masculine energy for it's strength, decisiveness, focus, power & logic. In fact, I loved these qualities so much that I forgot about the equal but opposite energy that keeps the world in harmony & our own bodies in a balanced, healthy state. The feminine divine. Devotion to practice. I've been experimenting with replacing the word discipline to devotion. It has much more of a yin energy to it. When I apply it to my passions I notice it gives more of a ' I want to ' rather than 'I need to or I have to ' vibe. Devoting myself to my daily yoga & pranayama practice is keeping me grounded & balanced during these turbulent. Honestly, there is some resistance to getting on the mat in the 1st place, but I always finish feeling capable & in control. Your breath is P O W E R F U L. And this power lies in the movement of the breath. We all know when energy hasn't got free range of movement, things can go stagnant & rot. Think water in a swamp compared to a babbling brook or free flowing river. Not a healthy image. Prana aka life force energy is expressed via our breath. If we aren't breathing we aren't alive! As a race, our breath has got stuck up in our chest & upper thoracic cavity. Which means we can still live...but just survive. ❄️ Show your joints some love during this cold snap ❄️ Anybody out there feel the cold in their bones & joints? Our body has 360 joints!!!! They can be prone to inflammation, arthritis & fusion if we forget to give them a little TLC. Personally ,I know how it feels to feel the pain of RSI shoot through your hands or painful wrists when trying to hold your downward dog. Two things I implemented to reduce the pain in my joints were; ❄️ MSM powder supplement. Add to your smoothie to reduce joint pain. SO EFFECTIVE! ❄️ Gentle & regular movement. Before weight bearing on certain joints, I took the time to slowly & gently move them to induce blood flow & help prep for exercise. Looking for escape? It doesn't feel like we can plan a break away at the moment. This has left me feeling trapped. My whole life I seem to have mastered the art of getting away & exploring my external environment. Which I found so much joy in. But lately, with little option on places to go, I've had to meet the present moment & face it. And not every moment has been pretty or comfortable. And that's okay & a normal part of the human experience. In fact I realised being still, sitting with my emotions & choosing to work with them helps me go through them in a more manageable way. Just like riding a wave, there's a peak, then it falls away & makes space for new feelings, thoughts & experiences. I feel more free & as I'm not stuck or running from the moment. I've dealt with it. New health habit alert. I've been enjoying cacao in my diet for a few years now which has seen my cravings for traditional chocolate completely disappear. Cacao is raw, unprocessed chocolate with all the health benefits of a superfood. The last few weeks over in @holistichealthcollectiveuk we've started our mornings with a cup of this velvety elixir with the intention of allowing our creativity flow to help us in business. The incredible side effects were the disappearing of cravings for sweet food & caffeine. I mean like....no desire for that sugary afternoon snack. Time to go within. If lockdown taught me 1 lesson it's that we have little control over our external world compared to our internal world. Every action we take starts from within. Thoughts create words create actions. So I have taken this time as a cue to work on my mindset. Becoming an observer of my thoughts & noticing my reactions. Phew....its been exhausting at times to watch my mind!!! But I have learnt more about myself than another other year of my life & I kinda feel ok about this lockdown & the future. Despite the fact we have no clue what it holds! Acceptance has been the golden ticket finding some inner peace...something that I vehemently opposed most of my life. I mean it's hard to accept losing your job, not seeing loved ones & losing your freedom. But after accepting,I was able to move on to a better emotion. And from there came HUGE internal growth.
